- Story: Became interested in fighting during my years in a small woman's Buddhist prayer group and meeting a wonderful lady who happened to be a fighter: Lucia Rijker. The handful of women in our group used to chant that Lucia would win all her fights and not get injured. And Lucia used to come to my rock band's gigs and encourage everyone to sign our mailing list! Needless to say, I always was positively predisposed to females who fight because of the positive example I saw in Lucia. When mixed martial arts came to the forefront, I was amazed by the technical skills and abilities of many female fighters I've seen. Ialso have enjoyed seeing many of the guys fight too. Eddie Alvarez is amazing!
I worked on Season 1 of the Contender. I found the principal location for the series and dealt with the issues of converting what was essentially an open warehouse space into a livable crib and fight auditorium for the contestants.
